Last night, Imagination’s founder and CEO, James Meyers, was presented with the Mitch Mohanna Lifetime Achievement Award at the Association Media and Publishing’s annual conference in Washington, D.C.
The Mitch Mohanna Lifetime Achievement Award recipient is chosen by the Board of Directors and awarded to an industry service provider that has performed an outstanding service to AM&P and achieved accomplishment spanning a career in association media and publishing. This special merit award was founded in 2016 in honor of loyal AM&P member Mitch Mohanna who passed away in 2015.
Jim has a 30+ year career in publishing. Prior to the start of Imagination, Jim served as group president of Macmillan Business Publishing, senior vice president of marketing for the Chicago Sun-Times and senior vice president of marketing at Carson Pirie Scott stores.
In 1994, Jim founded Imagination, a content marketing agency, and it has grown from a single-client, one-magazine company into a 30+ client omnichannel content marketing powerhouse with offices in Chicago and Washington, D.C. Imagination’s 100+ full time employees are experts in creating content strategies, execution and marketing for Fortune 500 clients and leading trade associations throughout the world.
Under his guidance, Imagination has developed a reputation as an innovative and passionate executor of thought leadership content. The firm’s journalistic prowess and design artistry have won its clients hundreds of awards and the firm and its founder have been cited by industry institutions for excellence in content marketing, journalism, design and strategy.
Knowing how important it was to have an association dedicated to cultivating and advancing custom publishing within the wider marketing industry, he became, in 1999, a founding member of what is now The Content Council. His support of content marketing associations has been steadfast, especially AM&P.
Last year, drawing on 25 years of Imagination’s content marketing expertise, Jim published, Becoming Essential, a book written for association leaders seeking to reclaim their value proposition, build their thought leadership position and remain relevant in an ever-changing digitally-driven world.
Imagination’s current association clients include: American Bar Association, American Association for Justice, American Association for Clinical Chemistry, American Council of Engineering Companies, American Optometric Association, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Association of Governing Boards of Colleges and Universities, Educause, International Association of Business Communicators, International Interior Design Association, National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, National Federation of Independent Business, and Project Management Institute.
